Cam Heyward asks Taylor Swift for help after emergency landing in Kansas City
When your travel plans get derailed, is there anyone better to call than Taylor Swift? That was Cam Heyward‘s plan after the Steelers’ plane made an emergency landing on a return trip from Las Vegas.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Pittsburgh’s team plane made an emergency landing in Kansas City because of an oil pressure failure in one of the engines. Everyone was safe and the team was expected to arrive back in its home city later in the day.
But with Swift in Kansas City to watch Travis Kelce and the Chiefs on Sunday, Heyward decided to reach out to the two. He thought they might be able to provide a lift.
“Dang emergency landing in KC. I think it’s due to (Minkah Fitzpatrick’s) ‘roughing the passer call’ but seriously landing (in) KC …,” Heyward wrote on X. “Yo (Taylor Swift) & (Travis Kelce) we might need a ride to Pittsburgh.”
Kelce invited Swift to the Chiefs’ Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. She sat in his suite, along with Kelce’s mother and appeared to enjoy herself during the game. Probably because Kansas City annihilated Chicago 41-10, with Kelce ending the game with seven catches for 69 yards and a touchdown. So, maybe not the worst idea in the world from Heyward to reach out?

Steelers make emergency landing in Kansas City
The Steelers didn’t exactly have the most enjoyable trip back to Pittsburgh. Yes, the team did celebrate a 23-18 victory over the Raiders to improve to 2-1, but an oil pressure failure in an engine on the team plane forced an emergency landing.
Schefter provided some details on the situation.
“After their team plane was unexpectedly diverted to Kansas City early this morning, the Steelers remain on the same plane that left Las Vegas at roughly 11:30 pm PDT last night, waiting for another plane to get them back to Pittsburgh,” Schefter shared. “Steelers were supposed to have landed in Pittsburgh about 5:30 am; their new arrival time remains uncertain. Soon enough they’ll be back on another plane; they play at Houston on Sunday.”
That’s not exactly a fun situation for anyone involved. Fortunately, though, the plane landed safely in Kansas City and nobody was hurt.
Pittsburgh will be on the road again in Week 4, traveling to Houston to play the Texans. Houston picked up its first win of 2023, defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars 37-17.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET and the game airs on CBS.
