Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward is waiting to find out who will lead his team’s offense at quarterback in 2025. Aaron Rodgers has been thrown in the mix, and it’s evident the AFC North team is courting the veteran, but it remains to be seen what decision the enigmatic signal-caller will come to.

Aside from the Steelers, the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings have been reported as options for Rodgers. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the 41-year old has offers from both Pittsburgh and New York. Who prevails in the sweepstakes for the four-time NFL MVP remains to be seen, but Heyward believes the decision should be a simple one.

“I ain’t doing that darkness retreat. I don’t need any of that crap,” Heyward stated, via the latest episode of his Not Just Football podcast. “Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don’t. That’s simple, that’s the pitch.

“If you want me to recruit, that’s the recruiting pitch. Pittsburgh Steelers — if you want to be part of it, so be it. If you don’t, no skin off my back.”

Evidently, Heyward is keeping it simple. He’s not willing to fall over himself to bring Rodgers to his team, but his front office may not share that same sentiment. If they don’t end up with him at quarterback, the options are a bit dire, especially since the Steelers have playoff aspirations.

Regardless, it’s been fascinating to see the Steelers and Giants waiting to see who will sign Rodgers. He hasn’t played at his past Hall of Fame level since taking his talents from Green Bay to the New York Jets, but Rodgers enjoyed immense success over almost two decades with the Packers. It hasn’t been smooth sailing since they decided to move on to Jordan Love as their starting quarterback.

Retirement was something many predicted for Rodgers, but it seems like he wants to go out a winner, instead of after a disappointing season with the Jets. Is that a possibility if he joins the Steelers or the Giants? It’s not out of the question, but it certainly won’t be an easy task for the veteran quarterback.

Time will tell who Aaron Rodgers chooses, but Cam Heyward isn’t holding his breath and waiting for the decision. The Steelers certainly seem like the frontrunner, but anything can happen over the next few days, weeks or months — who knows how long this process will take.
