Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward will think twice before making a bet with rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson again. Heyward, a former Ohio State star, made a bet with Wilson who played for Michigan. With Michigan losing to Ohio State 13-10 on Saturday, Heyward had to wear a Wolverines hat on Wednesday.

“Whatever, whatever. You see that? Whatever,” Heyward said to reporters while attempting to wear the Michigan, per Awful Announcing. A reporter asked him about the game and how he didn’t enjoy it. Heyward replied, “Yeah, that was terrible. Very disappointing to say the least.” Heyward then revealed that he made a bet with Wilson and then told reporters, “I approached him, so I feel like an idiot.”

Heyward, who played for Ohio State from 2007 to 2010, may be disappointed with his former school losing to its arch-rival, but the Buckeyes are in a good position to win a national title since they are ranked No. 6 in the current College Football Playoff Rankings.

Roman Wilson, who helped Michigan win a national championship last year, likely enjoyed watching the Wolverines take down Ohio State at Ohio Stadium. This year’s Michigan team will not compete for another championship since it finished the regular season with a 7-5 record.

The friendly bet took place as the Steelers continued their hot streak. After starting the season with a 3-2 record after five games, Pittsburgh has won the next six of seven games. Heyward has played a big role in the team’s success as he has posted 50 tackles, six sacks and eight passes defended this season.

Before the 2024 season kicked off, Cam Heyward agreed to a three-year, $45 million contract extension. “There’s certain guys that are one-helmet guys, and I want to be one of those one-helmet guys,” Heyward, 35, said in June amid contract negotiations, per ESPN. “And there’s a hunger and desire there, but that doesn’t mean just hanging it up and calling it a career. To me, I think I got more bullets to fire, and I’m excited to do that.”
