Cam Jordan is the ultimate Saints player. He’s never spent an NFL moment out of the black and gold uniform. And he’s got big hopes for the team this year.

How big? We’re talking going to Vegas, baby. Not to gamble, but to play in the Super Bowl. This season’s ultimate game is set for Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Feb. 11, 2024. Who cares if the Saints have missed the playoffs the past two seasons. New quarterback = new goals.

“I expect the Super Bowl,” Jordan said in a SiriusXM NFL Radio interview earlier this week. “I expect to take Derek Carr, DC4, back to Vegas where he just left and have a return run at the Super Bowl.”

Now that Tom Brady retired, Saints have better chance at playoffs

Derek Carr is the new quarterback. He spent nine seasons with the Raiders, first in Oakland, then in Vegas, before signing with the Saints in March. And New Orleans can believe, at a minimum, that its capable of winning the NFC South. After all, Tom Brady retired, leaving Tampa Bay for the glories of a non-football life.

Jordan has played his entire career in New Orleans. The Saints selected him in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. And since then, he’s played in more games (192) than all but three Saints in team history. With a healthy season, he should move into second place behind only Drew Brees‘ 228.

So he knows about expectations, when to unfurl them and when to tamp them down. This June, he’s going with wildly optimistic. And if he’s going on national radio to talk this talk, he’s probably given the same speech in the locker room.

“Nobody has ever walked into a season (and) been like, ‘Ooh, I hope we win 10 games,'” Jordan said. “No, I’m trying to win each and every game that we play. My expectation is being 21-0, 22-0, whatever it takes to get to a Super Bowl. I want to beat each and every team we line across.”

Jordan continued: “Every tackle, who I’m never gonna know their names, but like every dude that’s out there, we’re trying to beat the brakes off of them. I’m trying to get to each and every quarterback. The reality is, we have potential. The mentality is, we want to as a defense take over each and every game. And there’s no allowance to be like, ‘Hey, I think we could be a 12-5 team.’ I think we can win each and every one of these things.”
