Shedeur Sanders is only three months away from finding out where his future will unfold. During an appearance on First Take on Thursday, former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton explained why he believes Shedeur’s father, Deion, should dictate where his son lands in the NFL.

“Not a lot of people have the cache to say no to a team like Archie Manning once said no to the San Diego Chargers,” Newton said. “I would love for Deion Sanders to really consider, ‘Hey, no, I’m good. We good on this.’ Because that really embodies who the Sanders family is.

“The Manning family is the first family in football. Respectfully, they’ve earned that. To a degree, when you talk about Deion Sanders, he’s the uncle, he’s the godfather of the culture. So while he has his son, he’s always going to do right, not only by the people around him, but specifically his children. So do I think [the Cleveland Browns are] a good fit? No.”

The Browns own the second pick in the NFL Draft this season. While many insiders are projecting Shedeur Sanders to land with them due to their woes with current QB DeShaun Watson, all three of the first teams will be interested in drafting a QB.

The Tennessee Titans (No. 1 pick) haven’t had success with Will Levis and the New York Giants (No. 2) posted a 3-14 record this year with QB Daniel Jones leading the way. Despite the Giants’ lack of past success, Cam Newton believes Sanders would fit in perfectly in the Big Apple.

“In New York, I think they bumped their head enough times, and hopefully they’ve learned from the Saquon’s, they’ve learned from the Odell’s,” Newton said. “They’ve learned from having stars in their building and not doing right by them.

“I think New York presents a bigger pool for the Sanders name. What would that look like? And if we’re talking about business alone and opportunity alone. This is not even about Deion, more or less than about Shedeur right? I think Shedeur has him written all over it as a New York Giant.”

Shedeur Sanders certainly thrives in the spotlight, excelling during his two years at Colorado. In this season alone, Sanders erupted for 4,134 passing yards, 37 TD passes and four rushing scores while completing 74% of his pass attempts.

Sanders won’t have to wait much longer to learn where he’ll be suiting up next. The NFL Draft will take place from April 24-26 in at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
