Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt had one of the best plays in the early stages of the NFL season, intercepting a pass from Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes with one hand. The play happened at the end of the third quarter as the Bengals were leading the Chiefs 22-17. Mahomes threw a deep pass to wide receiver Xavier Worthy, but Taylor-Britt defended the pass perfectly for the pick.

The interesting thing about the play is that Taylor-Britt took a shot at Worthy when speaking to the media days before the game. A reporter asked the former Nebraska Cornhuskers star what Worthy beings to the Chiefs.

“Speed. That’s about it,” Taylor-Britt said, via Caleb Noe of WPCO. “He can run straight. Run jet sweeps and just run straight. He can’t do too much else, so that’s about it. I feel like if you put your hands on him, he’s only a hundred-some pounds, so if you put hands on him, you’re gonna stop his speed, so basically get your hands on him.”

Taylor-Britt added: “I feel like if you put your hands on him, he’s only a hundred-something pounds. If you put hands on him, you’re going to stop his speed. So basically get your hands on him.”

In the game against the Bengals, Worthy caught two passes for 17 yards. In the season-opener, the Texas Longhorns alum had 47 receiving yards, 21 rushing yards and two total touchdowns. Taylor-Britt got the better of Worthy on Sunday, but the Chiefs love what Worthy brings to the table.

“I think it’s just going to be a spark,” Mahomes said last week,  per Pro Football Talk. “It shows what he can do. Obviously, it showed his speed. It showed how he’s able to run routes and find open spaces. It just kind of gives him that confidence. I think he already had it anyways, but to show that he can do it on Sundays or whatever day of the week that we’re playing. It’s just kind of a start for him.

“We want him to keep building. We want to get him more and more involved in the offense, but a great start.”
