After his abrupt retirement from the NFL, Andrew Luck keeps a low profile, But since the Thursday Night Football folks were in NorCal near his home, he dropped by for post-game trivia.

But it wasn’t just any Luck. This former star quarterback came dressed as a walking, talking meme that his play and retirement inspired. He no longer was current-day Andrew Luck, retired football player. Instead, he was Andrew Luck, a captain in the Union Army so very far away from the Civil War battlefield.

Andrew Luck is a part-time high school football coach

Let’s grab a quill and steam open a letter, the last one the popular Twitter account published this year.

Dearest mother — My beard has been tapered — but not tampered. Thusly, I shall resume my quiet days in my Appalachian cabin, reading to the birds. A basket with spiced beaver thighs and fresh squirrel oil is on the way. T’was lovely to correspond once more. I love you. — Andrew

Luck is in the fifth year of his retirement. He quit the game at age 29 during the middle of Colts training camp. These days, the 34-year-old spends his time with his wife and two daughters. He’s taking classes at Stanford and is a part-time coach at Palo Alto High School. He married Nicole Pechanec, a fellow Stanford grad and athete, While he was the quarterback, she was captain of the school’s national championship gymnastics team,

So tell us, Andrew, how’s life after football the war?

“It’s been great,” he said. “The war is over. We’re onto greener pastures in California. Life is good.”

As expected, Jets fans want Luck to be their QB

Andrew Luck was the No. 1 pick of the 2012 NFL Draft. And seven years later, he had a change of heart about football. He walked away from the game on August 24, 2019. He stays out of the spotlight, but he occasionally will swing by for a big event.

Before Thursday, he’d given two interviews. He was there with Robert Griffin III for an ESPN appearance last year before the national championship. And he dropped by Lucas Oil Stadium, where he used to play his home games. He also made an appearance at a Stanford football game.

No, he doesn’t want to return to the NFL. However, just showing up on set Thursday started so many rumors about a team trading for Luck. Hello, Jets? Let’s talk.
