Carl Edwards reveals 'biggest problem' with being inducted into NASCAR Hall of Fame
Tonight, Carl Edwards will be inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame along with the Class of 2025, Ricky Rudd and Ralph Moody. For the former Cup Series star, the hardest part of the whole thing might be his speech.
For those who have followed Carl Edwards throughout his career, he is not a brief speaker. Edwards loves to talk, he gets sidetracked, and he is always looking to say one more thing.
So, when it comes to his acceptance speech tonight, what is his plan? NASCAR wants everyone to abide by an eight-minute time limit. That could be difficult for Edwards.
“Okay, so this is so great,” Edwards said, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “You guys know me so well, Bob, that’s exactly the biggest problem right now. You nailed it. There’s no way I’m sticking to the eight minutes, it’s impossible. I mean, how am I going to do that? I got so many people to thank and I’ve got it down to maybe 13 minutes, but I ramble. So, there’s no telling what’s going to happen, it’s going to be hard.”
NASCAR fans can watch the NASCAR Hall of Fame Ceremony live tonight. It will air on the Tubi NASCAR Channel which is available for free online. All kinds of stars from the past and present will be in attendance.
During his career, Carl Edwards accomplished so much. He was an electrifying driver and of course, his backflip celebrations will go down in history. 28 Cup Series wins, 38 wins and a championship in the Xfinity Series, and another six wins in the Truck Series.
Edwards won the Southern 500 and the Coca-Cola 600. He is also one of the biggest “what ifs?” in the sport with his early retirement in 2017. Part of the 75 Greatest Drivers list, Edwards will now be immortalized in the Hall of Fame.

Carl Edwards gets asked a big favor by Kyle Larson
Could we see Carl Edwards back in a NASCAR Cup Series car in 2025? Kyle Larson is advocating for it, and Edwards isn’t against it. We haven’t seen Edwards race, qualify, or practice a Cup car since 2016. Is it time for him to make a return?
In the last few years, Carl Edwards has been more open to being part of NASCAR. Not as a driver but as a former driver personality. Driving the No. 5 car for North Wilkesboro All-Star practice while Larson is in Indianapolis would be major.
It is a short track. Getting approval won’t be that difficult despite Edwards’ absence from racing in the last nine years. But would he even want to do it? Actually, perhaps.
Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports asked Edwards about the proposal. Nothing formal has been done, but Cousin Carl is aware of Larson asking him.
“Actually, this is cool my friend sent me that and really it’s an honor. I mean he’s one of the fastest guys to ever drive one of these cars and for him to say that, I don’t know if he’s messing with me, I’m very likely to crash a car if I were to get in one right now. But that is kinda interesting, but I’d have to go run the sim or something like that and see if I can even get around North Wilkesboro. But nobody’s officially talked to me about it, no.”
