It hasn’t been smooth sailing for the Panthers in 2023, but Carolina is set to have two of their best on the field against the Dallas Cowboys this weekend.

Quarterback Bryce Young was added to the the team’s injury report on Thursday, but it was revealed on Friday he’s set to play against Dallas, and star pass rusher Brian Burns will also be ready to rock against the Cowboys in Week 11.

“Bryce Young landed on the injury report Thursday, but there’s no concern about the Panthers quarterback’s availability for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys,” wrote Pro Football Talk on NBC Sports, via Yahoo Sports. “Young has no injury designation on the team’s final injury report of the week. He was listed as a full participant because of his thigh and head coach Frank Reich said Friday that Young is dealing with soreness.

“The Panthers are also set to have edge rusher Brian Burns back after he missed last Thursday’s loss to the Bears with a concussion. Burns has been a full participant in practice this week and joins Young in having no injury designation.”

Moreover, Young has had an extended break since his last game on Nov. 9. In the 16-13 loss to the Chicago Bears, the reigning first overall pick from the 2023 NFL Draft completed 21-of-his-38 pass attempts for 185 yards. He did not throw a touchdown or interception in the outing.

Continuing, through nine games this season, Young has thrown for 1,560 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions on 62.8% passing. Carolina’s offense has been mired in futility, ranking 30th in yards per game (275.6) and 29th in points per game (17.0).

Nevertheless, Carolina will be happy to have Young on the field, as he continues to gain valuable game experience.

As for Burns, the stud pass rusher has missed a myriad of games, but he’s looking to sign a long-term deal in the near future. He’ll need to be on the field if he wants one. Burns will hope to harass Dak Prescott this weekend.

Regardless of how the season has gone for the Panthers, coach Frank Reich is keeping the main thing the main thing, and he’ll have Carolina revved up for Dallas.

“I would think if you talk to most of the players, they might not admit it, but when you’re going up against a hot team, guys know it’s an opportunity,” Reich said Monday. “Things have not been going well for us as a team. So, it’s an opportunity. It’s a great opportunity to go up and prove that we’re a good football team. You know, we beat one good football team, but we need to beat another good football team. So we’ll all get ready to play a good one this week.

“This team [the Cowboys] is hot. They have a lot of firepower on offense. They have some big-time playmakers on defense. You know, they’re good in all three phases. They’re a well-coached team, and they’ve got a lot of firepower. So, it’s a great challenge for us, and I think our coaching staff and our players are excited for that.”
