Austin Corbett injury update: Pivotal details emerge about Panthers OL
Unfortunate injury news came out of Charlotte once again, with Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales announcing that starting center Austin Corbett suffered from a torn biceps on Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Ruled out for the remainder of the season on Monday according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
After Sunday’s game, Corbett said he “felt the pop” while pushing a pile in the third quarter. Forecasting the injury prior to his MRI on Monday which confirmed what he suspected, a ruptured biceps tendon.
Corbett joined the Panthers in 2022 after signing a three-year, $26.25 million contract with Carolina heading into the season. An immediate mainstay on the offensive line before suffering from a torn ACL in in the team’s season finale against the New Orleans Saints. Returning to the team in Week 8 of the 2023 season only to be injured yet again in Week 11. Suffering an MCL injury in the same knee that led to him missing the remainder of last season.
Following his third straight season-ending injury, Corbett posted a comical GIF on Twitter regarding his injury misfortune. At least he has a sense of humor about the situation as he begins yet another cycle of rehabbing with the goal of returning to the field.

Corbett was selected with the No. 33 overall pick in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns after spending his college career at Nevada. He appeared in 11 games and made one start in his rookie season with the Browns before being traded to the Los Angeles Rams in the midst of his second year in the league. Corbett started in 40 total games for the Rams over two and a half seasons and played a crucial role in Los Angeles’ Super Bowl LVI win.
Corbett now joins defensive tackle Derrick Brown and linebacker Shaq Thompson as key starters who will now miss the remainder of the season for the Panthers.
