The Carolina Panthers are making a big change on the offensive side of the ball.

Head coach Frank Reich is giving up play-calling duties, he announced on Monday. Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas Brown is expected to call plays moving forward as Carolina looks to jumpstart its offense.

Brown was previously the assistant head coach with the Los Angeles Rams, prior to joining the Panthers staff as offensive coordinator for the 2023 season.

“It’s always been a part of the plan. Something Thomas and I have discussed since he was hired,” Frank Reich told reporters on Monday. “I’m excited for this for Thomas. I’m excited for our team and our offense. Thomas is a stud. He’s a great leader. He’s a brilliant offensive mind.”

It’s no surprise that Reich and the Panthers are switching things up on the offensive side of the ball.

Carolina currently ranks No. 23 in total offense and No. 23 in scoring offense through the first six games of the season. The Panthers are 0-6 on the year.

Reich is hopeful that the offense can improve under Thomas Brown.

“We all have a lot of confidence in him,” Reich said of Brown. “I think the timing is right. Really been thinking about it hard the past couple of weeks. Kind of knew and was leaning this way, but here we are. Excited to turn it over to Thomas and know he’s going to do a great job for our team.”

Panthers QB Bryce Young opens up about adjusting to being on a losing team

This season has been tough on quarterback Bryce Young and the entire Carolina Panthers offense.

Young was a part of winning teams during his time in high school and at Alabama, but that hasn’t been the case thus far in the NFL.

After the Panthers lost to the Dolphins on Sunday, Young opened up about what it’s like adjusting to being a part of a losing team.

“It’s tough. Love this team, believe in this team; I’m blessed and happy to be a part of this team. And obviously, it’s not where we want to be, hasn’t been what we wanted,” Young said, per the team’s website. “It’s tough, but we’ve got to keep building, keep growing, trying to find things to continue to improve on, things that we’ve had. We’ve got to expand on it. We’ve got to keep building on the positives, and then, obviously, a lot to clean up.”
