Carolina Panthers inactives revealed for Sunday matchup vs. Houston Texans
The Panthers will look a little different in their matchup against the Houston Texans on Sunday. It hasn’t been easy for Carolina this season. Each time a player finally recovers, another player takes a spill. This week is no exception.
Safety Vonn Bell (quadriceps) and wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. (ankle) will be unavailable on Sunday. While these wounds are fresh, the Panthers have no shortage of old ailments they can’t quite kick.
The Panthers also have five defensive regulars on injured reserve at the moment, including Shaq Thompson, Jaycee Horn, Jeremy Chinn, Yetur Gross-Matos, and Marquis Haynes Sr. To make matters worse, five players other players were listed as questionable this week.
Although not all of these players will miss the game, they may still show signs of weakness. Nonetheless, it’s not all bad news for the Panthers. Right guard Austin Corbett was a full participant in Friday’s practice and is expected to play against the Texans.
This will be Corbett’s first appearance this season. The 28-year-old offensive lineman has been in recovery after tearing his ACL in the Panthers’ season finale last season.
Of course, the Panthers aren’t the only ones dealing with injuries. Texans defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins will be out on Sunday due to knee issues. The former Louisville standout recorded six tackles in the Texan’s 20-13 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 6.
However, during the Texans’ bye week, Rankins missed two practices due to his injury. Now, he will miss Sunday, as well. He isn’t alone. Rankins will be joined by wide receiver Robert Woods, who did not participate in any practice this week, and tight end Brevin Jordan, who did not participate in Friday’s practice.

Those who are healthy for the Texans should be energized. The team had a bye week in Week 7 after downing the Saints in Week 6. The Texans currently hold a 3-3 record and will look to build a win streak on Sunday.
The Panthers aren’t so fortunate. Carolina is 0-6, most recently falling to the Miami Dolphins in blowout fashion. Despite their struggles, the Panthers will look to get the jump on the Texans today.
With injuries affecting both teams, it’s a fair matchup. The Panthers and Colts will square off at 1 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on FOX. For a more comprehensive list of each team’s inactives, look below.
