The Carolina Panthers made some roster moves today following their upset victory over the Tampa Buccaneers on Sunday. The Panthers placed defensive lineman Henry Anderson on the team’s non-football injury list Tuesday after he was a late scratch in Sunday’s matchup versus the Buccaneers due to illness.

The Panthers signed Anderson on September 15 of this season and he’s appeared in six games for them, recording 12 tackles from his interior defensive line position. Anderson has provided run-stopping abilities and a veteran presence for the Panthers so far this year, as he’s currently in his eighth season in the league after being drafted in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Stanford.

The Panthers also signed offensive tackle Larnel Coleman from the Miami Dolphins practice squad and cornerback Tae Hayes from their own practice squad on Tuesday.

Coleman was a seventh-round draft pick out of UMass for the Dolphins last year who spent his time on their practice squad and injured reserve since getting drafted. Hayes signed with the Panthers in August of 2022 and recorded a pick-six in the team’s preseason game against the New England Patriots before getting placed on their practice squad before the season.

NFL insider reveals Panthers turned down multiple first-round picks for Brian Burns

The Panthers may have traded Christian McCaffrey, but it’s far from a fire sale in Carolina.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the NFC South franchise decided to turn down the “most lucrative offer” they received, as an NFL franchise was looking to acquire star pass rusher Brian Burns.

“The Carolina Panthers acquired four draft picks for Christian McCaffrey and two other picks for Robbie Anderson, but they rejected the most lucrative offer they received over the past week for pass-rushing standout Brian Burns,” wrote Schefter. “One team offered two first-round picks to the Panthers for Burns, league sources told ESPN.

“The Panthers told that team, however, that they are not trading Burns, who is in the middle of his fourth NFL season on a deal that pays him $2.34 million in base salary this year.”

Since coming into the NFL out of Florida State, Burns has evolved into one of the most exciting pass rushers in the league, and the Panthers aren’t willing to give up on him. While Carolina may be in a bit of a rebuild this season, stud pass rushers don’t grow on trees.

Indisputably, Brian Burns is a part of the future in Carolina, and he’s going to get paid for it. For his sake, hopefully the Panthers can surround him with some talent that’ll bring some more wins to the franchise in the coming seasons.
