Report: Carolina Panthers releasing RB Miles Sanders

Miles Sanders came to Carolina with high hopes, but his time with the Panthers hasn’t gone according to plan. After two seasons with the franchise, his time has come to an end, as the team is releasing him, according to Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports.
“The #Panthers are releasing former Pro Bowl RB Miles Sanders,” Schultz posted Tuesday on X. While Sanders never reached the same heights he enjoyed in Philadelphia over four seasons with the Eagles, he was productive at times. Now, the 27-year old will have to look elsewhere for his next opportunity.
Prior to joining the Panthers, Sanders was coming off the best season of his NFL career. He rushed for 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2022 for the Eagles. However, his season-high with Carolina never eclipsed 500 yards in two seasons.
Part of that was due to the team’s disappointing offense over the past two seasons. Sanders thought he was entering a formidable situation with rookie quarterback Bryce Young leading the charge. However, it’s been a tough road for the former top overall pick, and the whole offense has suffered because of it.
Moving forward, it’ll be interesting to see what’s next for Miles Sanders. He’s still on the right side of 30 for a running back, and he’s shown flashes of the player he was in Philadelphia. Perhaps he’ll find a new home in free agency, as he moves on from Carolina.

More on the Carolina Panthers, NFL Free Agency
Meanwhile, the Panthers agreed to pay a different star on their team earlier this week. Jaycee Horn, who’s coming off his best season in his fourth year with the franchise, will now be compensated at a historic, market-changing number in the NFL.
Per Ian Rapoport, Carolina has signed Horn to a four-year deal worth a total of $100 million with $70 million of that guaranteed. The contract has a maximum value of up to $108 million. With that, Horn is now the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history. He and the Panthersboth announced the news as Horn took to Twitter this morning to share his gratitude for the extension.
The $25 million per year is highest now among defensive backs in the NFL. This contract also puts Horn just behind Denzel Ward in total value but ahead of a collection that consists of names like Marshon Lattimore, Marlon Humphrey, Trevon Diggs, and Patrick Surtain II.
Horn has appeared in 37 starts the past four seasons in Charlotte. In that time, he has posted 153 tackles, 26 deflections, and five interceptions plus a pair of sacks.
