Carolina Panthers select Trevor Etienne in 4th round of 2025 NFL Draft

The Carolina Panthers have selected former Georgia running back Trevor Etienne in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons in the SEC at the collegiate level.
Etienne spent his college career at two schools across three years — two with Florida and one with Georgia. The most recent was with the Bulldogs, which saw him rush for 609 yards across 122 carries to go along with nine touchdowns. He averaged 5.0 yards per carry as a junior
Etienne saw his production increase slightly in 2023 after a strong true freshman season in Gainesville, his second with Florida, rushing for 753 yards and a team-high eight touchdowns as a sophomore. He also got more involved in the passing game, hauling in 21 receptions for 172 yards and a touchdown in the air.
Those rushing stats during his last year with the Gators would be a career-high for the 5 foot 9 Louisiana native. Etienne ultimately rushed for 2,081 yards in three years during his college career.
However, he logged career highs in receiving yards during his lone season in Athens. There, he caught 32 passes for 194 yards but failed to reach the endzone through the air.

Etienne, the brother of Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne, played high school football at Jennings (La.) High School, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 286 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
What NFL Draft analysts are saying about Trevor Etienne
Now that Trevor Etienne has been drafted, fans may be wondering what to expect from their new running back. NFL Draft analyst Lance Zierlein provided his analysis of the young tailback.
Zierlein: “Low-mileage back with modest production and average explosiveness but legitimate three-down versatility. He lacks the speed and power of his brother, the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Travis Etienne, but Trevor wins with vision, elusiveness and efficiency.
“He is capable inside and does a nice job of staying tight to the track but could struggle to get tough yards. He runs with average burst wide but sets up tacklers and gets in and out of cuts without losing speed. Etienne catches with sticky hands, evades tacklers in space and has a very good understanding of protections. He has middle-round value but could become a third-down option early in his career.”
