Teams have yet to even begin negotiations with their own restricted and unrestricted free agents, and we already have the Super Bowl odds for next season out. However, one of the more peculiar sets of odds given out for a chance to win Super Bowl LVII belongs to the Carolina Panthers. According to Caesars Sportsbook, the Panthers’ odds of winning it all next season is currently at +8,000; which are not very good odds. But if an omen can be taken from this, it is that these are the exact same odds Caesars gave the Cincinnati Bengals this time a year ago.

The Bengals did not go on to win Super Bowl LVI, but they were at least one of the two teams competing in it. So, If at all possible, head to Caesars and bet on the Panthers making it to the Super Bowl; just be wary of betting on them to win it. But for Carolina to even have a chance of even making the playoffs, they must first rebuild their team and take care of some glaring weaknesses, most notably the quarterback position. The team over at ESPN comprised a list of priorities for Carolina to take care of this offseason, attached to their odds of becoming Super Bowl champs in 2023.

Panthers agree to terms with Luvu

The Carolina Panthers are working through their list of unrestricted free agents and locked up a big one for the future on Thursday. Former Washington State linebacker and key special teams contributor Frankie Luvu signed a two-year extension. The deal is worth $9 million, according to Joe Person. It’s a huge increase for Luvu after his 2021 performance.

He finished the year tied for second on the team in special teams tackles, and had a forced fumble and a blocked punt last year. He also added 1.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss, and a forced fumble and fumble recovery on defense.

Based on the reported numbers in Luvu’s new deal, it’s easily the largest contract of his career so far. He made under a million in his first three years with the Jets before signing a one-year $1.1 million deal with Carolina last year.

Luvu is 25 years old and spent his first three seasons in the NFL with the New York Jets. At Washington State, he posted 6.5 sacks in his senior season.
