Carolina Panthers release Thursday injury report for Rams matchup
Steve Wilks will coach his first game as head coach of the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, as they travel out west to face the Los Angeles Rams. It’s a new era for the franchise, as some big decisions are in the future. But for now, Week 6 is at the forefront of the mind of Wilks and Co.
On Thursday, Carolina released their latest injury report. A few of the team’s biggest names are listed, including quarterback Baker Mayfield. He fell in the ‘DNP’ category, missing his second consecutive day of practice. Although Wilks has not officially ruled Mayfield out of Sunday’s contest, it’s not looking good for him.

Mayfield was acquired by the Panthers earlier in the season and immediately worked himself into the starter’s role. He suffered an ankle injury last week against San Francisco and has been in a walking boot ever since. In five games, Mayfield has thrown for 962 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions.
PJ Walker is in line to start if Mayfield is not able to go.
Three other players listed DNP
Mayfield was not the only Carolina player to miss Thursday’s practice. Cornerback Jaycee Horn was also held out but there is hope he can play on Sunday. Ribs have been the problem for the former first-round draft pick and limited him against San Francisco.
Laviska Shenault Jr. (hamstring) and cornerback Stantley Thomas-Oliver III (thigh) were not able to practice either.

Christian McCaffrey practices on Thursday
On a weekly basis, it seems as if star running back Christian McCaffrey finds himself on the injury report. He was on Wednesday but it was due to his weekly rest on Wednesdays. McCaffrey was taken off for Thursday and he is expected to be a full go against Los Angeles.
Even with trade rumors going around, McCaffrey is the most important offensive piece Carolina has going. If the season is going to get any kind of turnaround, the running back will have to get going.
Rest of Carolina injury repot
Limited participants: Cornerback CJ Henderson (knee), cornerback Donte Jackson (ankle), linebacker Frankie Luvu (shoulder), tight end Stephen Sullivan (back), and safety Xavier Woods (hamstring).
