According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Carolina Panthers have found a trading partner for wide receiver Robbie Anderson. The news comes less than 24 hours after interim head coach Steve Wilks kicked Anderson off the field in Sunday’s game versus the Los Angeles Rams. The Panthers are sending the former Jet to the Arizona Cardinals.

The Panthers will get a 6th-round pick in 2024 and a 7th-round pick in 2025, per Adam Schefter.

Anderson got in the face of his wideouts coach Joe Dailey during Sunday’s afternoon matchup versus the Los Angeles Rams. The very public sideline spat came after a report that the team was shopping the talented pass-catcher for a potential trade.

At the time of his exit from the game, Anderson didn’t have a catch. On the season thus far, he hasn’t been able to find his footing. He has amassed just 13 receptions for 206 receiving yards and one touchdown through five games.

Upon seeing the news break of his trade, Anderson tweeted a response in four simple emojis. He shared the frozen smiley, the prayer hands, the fingers crossed and rocket ship symbols.

While the former Temple star found a nice level of success in Carolina since joining the team prior to the 2020 season, his time with the franchise is at an end.

After posting his first and only 1,000-yard season in 2020, his production dipped in 2021. He had just 519 yards and five touchdowns on 53 receptions. Now, he’ll have an opportunity to move on and find new success with quarterback Kyler Murray in Arizona.

Arizona will take over the remaining $690,000 prorated portion of Anderson’s base salary for the 2022 season, according to Tom Pelissero.

Anderson reveals lead-up to ejection from Panthers-Rams

After Sunday’s game, Anderson took the time to clear the air with Jelani Scott of Sports Illustrated.

“I’m here to do all I can to help us win, it’s third down, I’m being taken out the game, you know, I don’t think I should be OK with that,” Anderson said. “So, I made a comment, ‘It’s the money down, why am I being taken out?’ And that’s that.”

The Florida native explained that he wasn’t sure why he had to leave the field.

“I have no idea but one thing I do, I always stand on and continue to do is I give my all to everything that I do,” he said. “… I play this game ’cause I love the game of football. And regardless of what’s been going on the past week, I always keep my head down and keep working,” Anderson said.
