Carolina Panthers vs New York Giants Wednesday injury report
Ahead of their Week 2 matchup with the New York Giants on Sunday, the Carolina Panthers have made their Wednesday injury report available. The Panthers fell in the season opener to a late field goal despite a furious comeback — dropping to 0-1 and losing quarterback Baker Mayfield’s “revenge game” opportunity against the Cleveland Browns.
This week, Carolina will play the Giants on the road, and are in relatively good health as a team according to Wednesday’s injury report. Carolina has three defenders banged up and limited or out in practice, and the team made the call to rest star running back Christian McCaffrey.

Panthers vs Giants Wednesday injury report
Did Not Practice – Panthers: RB Christian McCaffrey (Rest), DE Marquis Haynes (Hip)
Limited Participation – Panthers: LB Frankie Luvu (Shoulder), OT Taylor Moton (Knee), LB Brandon Smith (Thigh)
McCaffrey’s status in Wednesday’s practice is a reflection of the team’s focus on keeping him healthy as he’s battled injuries in the past. His workload on Sunday last week was low by his standards, rushing the ball just ten times in the loss for 33 yards and a touchdown. He added four catches for 24 yards in the passing game as a great option out of the backfield for Mayfield, but finished the day with just 57 total yards.

Meanwhile, Marquis Haynes found himself on the injury report as a scratch from practice due to a hip injury. Linebackers Frankie Luvu and Brandon Smith were also on the report for the defensive side of the ball, although both were present for practice in limited capacity.
Taylor Moton was also limited in practice on Wednesday with a knee injury, but it is hard to imagine he wouldn’t be ready by game day with his current ironman streak of snaps played. Moton has played 100 percent of snaps for Carolina’s offense since 2017, playing 4458 snaps total over that span without missing a play.
