Carolina Panthers waive defensive end Joe Jackson
The Carolina Panthers have parted ways with Joe Jackson. According to NFL reporter Dov Kleiman, Carolina announced that they have cut the former Miami Hurricanes defensive end on Tuesday.
The Cowboys selected Jackson in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft with the 165 overall pick. Unfortunately for the former Hurricane, he was waived after his rookie campaign before the start of the 2020 season. Jackson only played in 72 defensive snaps with the Cowboys and played in five games. He finished the year with four total tackles, two solo, and one quarterback hit.
After being waived by the Cowboys, Jackson spent the next two years with the Cleveland Browns. With the Browns, Jackson saw the field more often than he did with Dallas. In Cleveland, he played in 12 games, had 25 total tackles, 11 solo, three tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, and 1.5 sacks.
Since the start of the 2022 calendar year, Jackson has signed with both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Panthers. He signed with the Chiefs practice squad in the middle of the playoffs. And after the 2021 season was over, Jackson signed a reserve future contract with the Panthers. Now the former Hurricane must find a new home before the start of the 2022 season.

Panthers plan to hold Christian McCaffrey out of preseason games
During the first three seasons of his NFL career, Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey did not miss a game. In that time, he turned into one of the NFL’s best offensive stars, emerging as a dangerous rusher in addition to a quality option in the receiving game.
Over the past two seasons, though, McCaffrey has been sidelined more than he’s been on the field. In 2020, he was limited to just three games. Last season, he played in just seven. Ten games over the course of two seasons is not what the Panthers want out of their star running back, and they hope that they can help change that trend next season.
According to The Athletic’s Joe Person, the Panthers will be trying a new approach with McCaffrey during training camp and the preseason.
“Rhule indicates Christian McCaffrey will be held out of preseason games again, and Panthers are looking into taking a different approach with him during practices,” Person tweeted.
