The Carolina Panthers are hosting free agent running back Devine Ozigbo for a workout on Friday, according to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson.

A former undrafted free agent out of the University of Nebraska, Ozigbo has spent the last four seasons with three different teams. He started out with the Jacksonville Jaguars, appearing in 10 games in 2019.

He joined the New Orleans Saints in 2021, playing in just two games. Ozigbo then joined the Denver Broncos. In the Mile High City he logged three carries and one reception in four games.

Despite playing little so far in his NFL career, the former Cornhusker has found homes and regularly earned promotions to the active roster from the practice squad.

Ozigbo left Nebraska after his most productive collegiate season. He had 1,082 yards with 12 rushing touchdowns in 2018. He also had 23 receptions and 203 receiving yards.

Ozigbo will need to fight it out to make the team and then the 53-man roster. During the offseason, the Carolina Panthers added running back Miles Sanders from the Eagles. Sanders will work in tandem with Chuba Hubbard. Other running backs on the Carolina roster are Spencer Brown and Raheem Blackshear.

Panthers sign linebacker Deion Jones

To start the week, the Panthers signed free agent linebacker Deion Jones to a one-year deal. Jones worked out for the team on Monday after their training camp practice and walked out with a new contract. By joining the Panthers, Jones is on to his third team in eight seasons after having also played for Atlanta and Cleveland.

Last season, the former LSU Tiger played for the Cleveland Browns following a trade from the Falcons in exchange for future draft picks. In 2022, he posted 44 tackles, 2.5 sacks and an interception in 11 games played.

Prior to his trade to Cleveland, Jones played six seasons for the Atlanta Falcons. They drafted him in 2016 in the second round. He totaled more than 100 tackles in all but one season for Atlanta. He also had 11 interceptions over his first five seasons, along with 6.5 sacks and multiple forced fumbles.

In 2017, Jones earned his first Pro Bowl nod. He had a career-high 138 tackles that year.

Playing at LSU from 2012-2015, Jones had his best season as a senior for the Tigers. He posted 99 tackles with five sacks and two interceptions in 2015, majorly boosting his draft stock.
