CARS Tour at North Wilkesboro Speedway under weather delay
Tonight’s events for the zMAX CARS Tour at North Wilkesboro Speedway are under a weather delay amid rain and lightning. This is a makeup date for the races that were rained out ahead of NASCAR All-Star Race weekend.
Qualifying happened earlier today at the track before the weather moved in. With an 8:30 start scheduled for the Pro Late Model category, it’s going to be later than that until we see cars on track again.
Once the Pro Late Models are finished the Late Model Stock Cars will race. Brenden Queen is on the pole for the main event tonight, it should be a good one. If they ever get the track dry.
That hold should be lifting any minute now. Unless more weather comes through there should be racing tonight at North Wilkesboro.
UPDATE: The lightning hold was lifted at 8:15 PM EST. The CARS Tour is now undergoing the prerace ceremonies, will hope that the rain moves out as it lingers around, and then it will be time to get the track dry.
Connor Hall enters the race with a chance to increase his championship lead. Brent Crews, the teenage prospect, is 28 points back. Brenden Queen is 29 points back from Hall. One of those three could walk away with the championship this season. There’s a lot more racing to be had in 2024, though.
That is just the Late Model Stock standings. As for the Pro Late Model championship race, it is about a seven-driver battle. The top-seven are separated by only 29 points. A race pays out a max of 33 points total. Four Pro Late Model drivers are separated by just 15 points.

CARS Tour championship battles heating up
North Wilkesboro Speedway is a fitting track for the CARS Tour. The series represents the best of short-track grassroots racing. With an ownership group that is made up of Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton, and Justin Marks – it’s in good hands.
Already we have seen CARS Tour drivers move up to NASCAR with great results. Brenden Queen, Carson Kvapil, Bubba Pollard is more of an ASA Stars guy, but he’s done CARS events as well. Even Connor Zilisch has raced in the series as he develops his craft.
While most of the attention is rightfully put on the Late Model Stock class, the Pro Late Models are going to have one hell of a championship fight to end the season. There is going to be high emotions and hurt feelings by the end of the year in those Pro Late Models.
While NASCAR is on hiatus, enjoy the CARS Tour on FloRacing. It’s going to be a good time at North Wilkesboro Speedway.
