Carson Hocevar broke the internet when he revealed he bought an incredible Dale Earnhardt-inspired Chevy Silverado from Facebook Marketplace prior to last weekend’s race at Martinsville Speedway. He took it one step further for throwback weekend at Darlington, bringing it to the track in all of its glory.

“I wanted something old school,” Hocevar proclaimed, explaining the purchase. Check it out below, courtesy of Dalton Hopkins of Frontstretch, and try to contain your jealousy. That’s a pretty awesome truck, and an impressive find for the NASCAR Cup Series wheelman that he just had to show off in South Carolina.

Regardless of how you feel about Hocevar’s on-track antics, his passion for all things stock car racing is unmatched, and his latest purchase is more evidence of that. The 22-year old started out as just a race fan, making stop-motion videos with his die-casts and posting them online for years, but now he’s the real deal — pissing off the likes of Kyle Busch and Ryan Blaney week-in and week-out. Not bad for a fan.

His new toy drives that point home even further. He lives, breathes, and eats this sport. A fully decked out Dale Earnhardt Sr. 1997 Chevy 1500. Contingency stickers, the name rail, every little detail is perfect. Better yet, it’s street-legal.

While it seemed like a joke at first, due to Hocevar’s playful nature on social media, he’s brought the proof to the track this weekend. According to Facebook Marketplace, the truck ran him about $20,000. It apparently only has 31,000 miles, not bad for a ’97 with all the perfect details.

All told, the finishes haven’t shown up for Carson Hocevar this season, but he’s been fast. The speed is definitely there. He dropped another five spots in the points after Homestead and now sits 27th going to Martinsville.

Overall, Spire Motorsports has shown great improvement. Michael McDowell is carrying the banner for that organization for the most part. But is Hocevar trying to intimidate his competition a bit? His aggressive style and seemingly indifferent response to criticism has put him in an interesting position.

If Hocevar can hone in on that speed he has and get himself to the front more often, then he’ll become a must-watch driver. The usual front-runners don’t like racing with him. Too unpredictable and new. But sooner or later, they will have to learn to deal with him.

Now that Carson Hocevar has his Dale Sr. truck, look out. He might start having visions that he is The Intimidator himself. It might get him in more trouble than he is already in.
