Carson Hocevar went for a spin with 24 laps to go in Stage 3 of Sunday’s Round of 12 opener at Kansas.

While it’s unclear what caused Hocevar to spin, he has an idea. In his eyes, it was all Chase Briscoe’s fault.

“I didn’t hit anything. Just Chase Briscoe fu*king sucks,” Hocevar said over his radio, via Matt Weaver of Sportsnaut. “He did the same thing to the 8 [Kyle Busch].”

As Hocevar mentioned, it was Briscoe who was partly at fault for Busch’s spin while leading the race with 32 laps to go. With Busch looking to hold off Ross Chastain, Busch went high into Turn 2 attempting to pass Briscoe, who was looking to stay on the lead lap at the time. Briscoe didn’t give him much room, and Busch got loose.

Hocevar clearly feels Briscoe did something similar to him, thus ruining his day. The Spire Motorsports driver finished 32nd, his worst finish since a P33 result at Darlington earlier this month.

It doesn’t change, however, what has been an encouraging rookie season to date for Hocevar in the Cup Series. Hocevar has compiled five top 10s in 30 starts this season and is the overwhelming favorite to win the Rookie of the Year Award. He tallied his first top 5 finish at Watkins Glen earlier this month, nearly securing Cup Series win No. 1.

“I just needed some more confidence into turn one,” Hocevar said after Watkins Glen. “I did everything right, all the way until turn one, and then I just lifted a little too early. When I lost leverage, it was just game over from there, but I had a really good shot for the win. We were last in practice with a bunch of issues. I’m just super thankful that we were able to turn the weekend around for the No. 77 Mattress Warehouse Chevy team.”
