Carson Hocevar spins Corey Heim late in Truck Series Championship race at Phoenix
In a mind-boggling move, Carson Hocevar has spun Corey Heim out with 35 laps to go at Phoenix in the NASCAR Truck Series championship race. Heim had passed Hocevar for the lead and about a lap later, Hocevar spun him.
After the incident, Carson Hocevar said on his radio he didn’t mean to do it. However, it looked bad on the replay. Hocevar has been known for spinning drivers out on purpose in the past. Denny Hamlin commented on seeing that bubbling up in the Cup Series last week.
Watch as Hocevar spins Heim as they battle for the championship lead in sixth place. Hocevar restarted P2 while Heim was P21 after the caution.
After the restart, Carson Hocevar faded way back. He went from second to P18 when the caution flag came out again for another incident. Heim was able to move up to P12 and looked to have a great truck.

The red flag came out for cleanup with 20 laps to go in the Truck Series championship race. This benefitted Ben Rhodes and Grant Enfinger the most who were able to move up to P3 and P4, respectively.
With the red flag out, the race is on pause. Carson Hocevar will have to deal with the consequences of his actions. Heim is fighting for his life now in this race. Meanwhile, Rhodes and Enfinger will try and race it out clean to the finish.
At 20 years old, Hocevar is going to make mistakes. However, he’s been a professional driver for a handful of years now. There comes a point when he has to mature on the track. He had made strides this season and it paid off with multiple wins. Hocevar won’t be able to do these same things in the Cup Series next year, that’s for sure.
