Sometimes you make mistakes. Then other times you fix it by winning your second career Truck Series race like Carson Hocevar. The tall and lanky NASCAR driver had a great race in the Rcakely Roofing 200 at Nashville Superspeedway. It’s a good thing because the other day he put regular unleaded gas into his diesel truck.

Truck Series action in Nashville on Friday night was awesome. There were comers and goers throughout the race. Nick Sanchez won the pole and got us started off as he fought with Rajah Caruth for the lead for much of the first stage.

Caruth would lose fuel pressure and be more than 30 laps down at one point. Sanchez fell back. That gave way to Carson Hocevar, Corey Heim, and Zane Smith. All winners and all very capable. But Hocevar just had the better ride and drove away with this race in the final 30 laps or so. Excellent race from him in the 42.

Hocevar is probably relieved he won that Triple Truck Challenge money. $50,000 should be enough to get that truck fixed back up and running.

The thing is, Carson Hocevar, isn’t done yet. Ever since the mess that was the Texas race, which Hocevar won on a last-lap caution flag, the young driver seems to have turned over a new leaf. He was very thankful for Niece Motorsports. He said he “loves” everyone on his team and all of his supporters.

So, what is next for the Truck Series regular? Well, he gets to suit up and do it again this afternoon in the Xfinity Series.

Carson Hocevar building to a future ride

While there is a lot of young talent in NASCAR right now, there are few drivers with as much promise as Carson Hocevar. Chevy looks at him as a driver of the future. Heck, Cup Series teams like Spire Motorsports see him as a potential driver for their organization possibly in the next few years.

Yes, Hocevar worried many people with his on-track antics. Before he made this pivot to running clean and respectfully, he could be a wrecking ball. No doubt, when emotions ran high in the past, Hocevar would at times not be able to control himself. Wrecks and improper bumping were the norm.

Now it seems running in the top-5 and winning races might be the norm. He has performed well not just in the Craftsman Truck Series but also the Xfinity Series. Hocevar gets another chance to go for an Xfinity win later today.

In practice, Carson Hocevar was able to put himself 17th fastest on the board in his No. 77 Chevy. It will be a much bigger challenge for him as Cup Series regulars Ty Gibbs and AJ Allmendinger join the party.
