With the Darlington Throwback weekend creeping up, NASCAR teams are revealing their paint schemes. JR Motorsports and Carson Kvapil have a very special design for this year’s race. The Xfinity Series rookie will honor Jamie McMurray at Darlington.

There are many drivers who have had the Bass Pro Shops colors on their cars. Jamie Mac is one of the best personalities the sport to this day, as he does his broadcasting duties on The CW and FOX.

Designed after McMurray’s 2010 Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400-winning cars, this is a great throwback. Mostly because the number matches. JR Motorsports and Carson Kvapil surprised McMurray while he was recording an episode with Door Bumper Clear.

For those who want a more stable look at the design, you’re in luck. JR Motorsports posted still images of the car, too.

Last season, Carson Kvapil raced at Darlington twice. He had results of P19 and P14. This season, Kvapil has shown incredible speed and a knack for learning quickly as well. Coming off his P10 at Darlington, it wouldn’t shock me to see Kvapil compete up front.

This is a really cool moment for Jamie McMurray. He hasn’t been out of the sport for that long. But he deserves a throwback like this. Kvapil feels like the perfect racer to carry this design too. He’s old school and learned from his dad Travis, 2003 Truck Series champ. He’ll do right by this scheme.

Carson Kvapil needs a complete day

Martinsville is this weekend. So let’s pump the brakes on Darlington for the time being. This is where Carson Kvapil could legitimately win. He was P4 here in his debut a year ago and almost won this race. With more experience in this car, could he seal the deal this time?

Last year, Kvapil made a name for himself on the national stage with his performance at Martinsville. He followed that up with a runner-up at Dover. Then a few weeks later, Kvapil was P5 at New Hampshire. Those short tracks are where he feels most comfortable.

While there is a lot to learn for Kvapil, it won’t surprise me if and when he gets a win. The way he was able to race with Connor Zilisch at COTA showed that he has talent that has barely been tapped into.

JR Motorsports has a lot of talent behind the wheel. Any of their drivers could win any given week. Carson Kvapil might have his opportunity this weekend.
