Carson Wentz rocks Commanders, Eagles and Colts gear in new training photos

Carson Wentz isn’t playing favorites when it comes to his previous NFL teams. As the veteran quarterback tries to earn a roster spot, he’s breaking out a unique “throwback” uniform for practices.

The “throwback” is essentially just Wentz’s collection of previous team gear. In an Instagram post recently, Wentz shared photos of a practice while sporting a Philadelphia Eagles helmet, Washington Commanders jersey and Indianapolis Colts shorts.

Wentz has played for all three franchises over the past seven years. He’s currently a free agent and looking for a new home.

““Back in the lab … just looks a little different so far this year,” Wentz wrote on Instagram.

Hey, why not put an entirely new meaning into the phrase, “throwback uniform?” If you’ve got all the swag, might as well represent as many teams as possible.

Wentz has spent the majority of his career (thus far) with the Eagles, playing for the team from 2016-20. He then spent one season in Indianapolis (2021) and played for the Commanders last fall.

Wentz earned a spot in the Pro Bowl in 2017, guiding the Eagles to the playoffs that season. The team went on to win the Super Bowl, but he missed the postseason due to a leg injury.

In seven NFL seasons, Wentz has started 92 contests. He’s accounted for 22,129 yards with 151 touchdowns and 66 interceptions. In 2021, he posted a 9-8 record as the starter for the Colts, throwing for 3,563 yards with 27 touchdowns and just seven picks.

Last year with Washington, Wentz made seven starts and totaled 1,755 yards through the air with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Where will Carson Wentz get his next shot in NFL?

It is a little surprising that Wentz remains a free agent this deep into training camp. After all, he’s proven to be more than capable of leading an offense.

Wentz may not be the most talented quarterback in the NFL, but he had the Colts in the playoff chase in 2021 until the final week of the season. Back-to-back losses to close out the campaign cost Indianapolis a postseason berth, despite Wentz putting up solid numbers.

The quarterback’s time in Washington proved to be rockier. He owned just a 2-5 record in his seven starts with the team.

Maybe no team wants to take on Wentz as a starter, but he could be a great No. 2 option on the depth chart.
