The Dallas Cowboys may not be fighting for the Super Bowl this season, but don’t tell star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb there isn’t anything valuable on the line.

Lamb has put his body on the line week-in and week-out, despite Dallas’ record being under .500 for most of the season, and quarterback Dak Prescott out for the season. It’s paid off in numerous ways for the Cowboys, as they’ve been extremely competitive over the past few weeks, and they even defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who seemed primed for a playoff run entering this past Sunday’s contest.

Afterwards, Lamb spoke with the media, revealing he’s still dealing with immense pain from a shoulder injury. However, it’s important for him to be out there for his team each week, and he’s not missing an opportunity to wear that Cowboys’ star on his helmet if he can play, even if it’s a borderline lost season.

“My shoulder is outta whack, I’m not gonna even lie to you,” Lamb stated, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. I’m just out there battling and doing what I do. It’s not fun. … I love this game that much. I’m literally willing to put my body out there on the line for my guys.”

That doesn’t fit the narrative that many crafted for Lamb when he held out of training camp to receive a new contract from the Cowboys. For anyone who believes the wide receiver is only suiting up for the money, that sentiment is dead wrong.

“I feel like now I’ve kinda went way past the narrative of the money situation,” Lamb added. “I do it for the money, of course, but it’s way more than that. … I’m living my dream. For anyone that’s thinking that I’m (only) playing for the money is kind of insane.”

Even with uneven play at quarterback and a rollercoaster offensive system, Lamb has put up some of the best numbers in the league. He’s amassed 101 receptions (T-2nd) and 1,194 receiving yards (3rd). His touchdown numbers are down with six (T-20th), but that has more to do with the team’s offense than Lamb’s ability.

While the Cowboys were eliminated from the playoffs due to other results in Week 16, CeeDee Lamb and his teammates are hoping to finish the season strong, and continue their impressive play to gain some momentum for 2025. Dallas seemed dead in the water a couple of weeks ago, but that couldn’t be further from the truth at the moment.
