Plenty of NFL players across the league have strong ties to their former colleges. On Sunday afternoon, after a heated matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, two former Oklahoma Sooners had to show their disdain for the Texas Longhorns. Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb and Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts, former teammates with the Sooners, hit the horns down after the game.

The Eagles won Sunday’s matchup, 28-23, in yet another classic in the rivalry. Hurts had to deal with a direct hit on his injured left knee, but still managed to throw for 207 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for another score.

CeeDee Lamb had a spectacular day on Sunday, hauling in 11 catches for 191 receiving yards. It was his third game with 10 catches and 150 receiving yards, tying former Dallas great Michael Irvin for the most in Cowboys history. Lamb has now had three straight games with over 100 receiving yards, while bringing in over 150 receiving yards in his latest two outings.

Philadelphia is currently the only 8-1 team in the National Football League. Dallas currently sits at 5-3 overall and they’re currently in 2nd place in the NFC East.

Hurts and Lamb both played together at Oklahoma for one season, 2019. It was Hurts’ only season with the Crimson and Cream. He threw for 3,851 yards, 32 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. On the ground, Hurts also ran for 1,298 yards and 20 touchdowns. He managed to finish as the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy, second place to former LSU signal-caller Joe Burrow.

Lamb was Oklahoma’s top receiver and Hurts’ favorite target in 2019. He hauled in 62 catches for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns, while also scoring one rushing touchdown. Lamb finished his college career with the third-most receiving yards (3,292 yards) and the second-most receiving touchdowns (32) in Oklahoma football history.

Both Lamb and Hurts teamed up to lead the Oklahoma Sooners to a Big 12 crown and an appearance in the College Football Playoff. Oklahoma would lose in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff to the LSU Tigers, 63-28.

In the 2020 NFL Draft, Lamb was drafted in the first round by the Dallas Cowboys with the No. 17 overall selection. Hurts was drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles, who picked him with the No. 53 overall selection.
