CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons react to reported news of Zack Martin retirement

For the first time in a decade, the Dallas Cowboys will be without a legend. Zack Martin is reportedly set to retire after playing for 10 seasons. One of the all-time greats, there was rarely a doubt over who would be at right guard in Dallas. Martin was the team’s anchor from the moment he was drafted out of Notre Dame.
Reactions from fellow Cowboys players have begun to roll in, beginning with CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons. The two took to Instagram stories to share their thoughts on Martin’s retirement. Unsurprisingly, both were highly complimentary of their now-former teammate.
“The realest,” Parsons said. “Thank you for everything boss.”
“The freaking GOAT,” Lamb said. “I’m 4eva grateful to have played with you.”

Martin certainly benefitted the careers of Lamb and Parsons, just in different facets.
Beginning with the wide receiver, Martin is one of the best-ever past protectors. For all the different quarterbacks he dropped into protection for, most recently Dak Prescott, the Cowboys usually did not have to worry about that matchup. Giving Prescott time to deliver balls to Lamb helped create one of the NFL’s top connections over the past few years.
As for Parsons, you have to imagine there were plenty of moments in practice where the two went up against one another. Parsons usually aligned over an offensive tackle but defensive coordinators have been able to move him around at times. No better way to practice against the interior than facing Martin.

Now, for the first time in a long time, someone other than No. 70 will line up at right guard for the Dallas Cowboys. A simple sign of respect from Lamb and Parsons with messages via Instagram as the news filters in.
More on Zack Martin, retirement from NFL
Seven-time All-Pro guard Zack Martin has informed the Dallas Cowboys he plans to retire, sources told Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network on Thursday evening. He’s one of the greatest linemen of his era and likely a Hall of Famer. Martin walks away from the game at the age of 34 years old.
He spent 11 years with the Cowboys franchise and had a meeting with Jerry Jones on Thursday to inform the owner/General Manager of the decision, according to Todd Archer of ESPN NFL Nation. Martin was named to the Pro Bowl nine times in his prolific career.
