CeeDee Lamb is not distracted by any contract extension talk with the Dallas Cowboys.

Lamb has two years left on his deal as the former first round pick out of Oklahoma goes into Year 4 with Dallas. But despite any discussion about Lamb on the cusp of a big deal, on par with other top wide receivers, he didn’t sweat it all.

In fact, Lamb was focused squarely on football.

“Quite honestly, I’ll be 100-percent honest, I’m not even distracted,” Lamb said, via the team’s website. “The money, definitely worried about it, but it’s not something that’s on my mind everyday or when I come to the building. I’m not thinking about how much money I’m gonna make if I do this. It’s really all about coming in, showing my worth and letting everything else handle itself.”

Money is one thing, and Lamb is concerned with that, as any professional athlete would be. But it’s out of his hands and he’ll leave it to his agent.

Lamb had a career year in 2022 with Dallas. He finished with 107 catches, 1,359 yards, nine touchdowns and 12.7 yards per catch.

He’s evolved in more ways than one.

“Being a better leader, whether that’s for my position group or for my team,” Lamb said about his focus. “Obviously being the one that can be counted on when the game is on the line. I’ve always had help, but it’s instilled now. Then at the point of attack, we’re gonna come at you, we’re gonna be aggressive. We’ll do the best versus the best and let the best man win.”

As far as when a deal gets done, it could be soon, it could be later. No one really knows, not even Lamb.

“That’s for my agent,” Lamb said. “I’m trying to play. That’s what I’m here to do and that’s what I love to do.”

Lamb received the fifth-year extension back in April, so he’s under contract for two more seasons. But with another productive season, he should be in Dallas for the long term.

Lamb was a first-round pick out of Oklahoma in the 2020 NFL Draft. He finished his time with the Sooners with 173 catches, 3,292 yards, 32 touchdowns and 19 yards per catch.

As a member of the Class of 2017, Lamb was a four-star recruit out of Richmond (Texas) Foster, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 22 overall prospect in the state, the No. 20 wide receiver in the class and the No. 133 overall prospect in the class.
