CeeDee Lamb opens up about changes to Cowboys offensive playcalling

After another disappointing postseason run last year, the Dallas Cowboys opted to make some changes offensively entering 2023. Primarily, the organization let offensive coordinator Kellen Moore go and put head coach Mike McCarthy in charge of calling plays. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb recently explained some of the subtle differences heading into the year.
Lamb told 105.3 The Fan that there aren’t really any overhauling changes offensively with McCarthy calling the plays. He did say, though, that quarterback Dak Prescott has a little more freedom than in previous seasons.
“Really not much. Different play-calling, of course, but it’s just a lot simpler,” Lamb said. “All the offense is in Dak’s hands now. … However he’s feeling versus the coverage. If he likes the matchup, we’re gonna call that play. If he likes whatever he likes versus zone, he’s gonna call that play. So technically, it’s all in Dak’s hands. We’re moving much faster, at a different pace.”
With more of the offense in Prescott’s hands, Lamb says the Cowboys could be a little more aggressive in the passing game. That means Dallas might hit on more explosive plays throughout the season.
“He’s very aggressive. … And he’s looking for the deep ball now. And as you (saw on Saturday), it’s up there,” Lamb said. “So if you’re not gonna back up, this is a warning to everybody, if you’re not gonna back up, good luck.”
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones talks expectations for Dak Prescott
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones never runs away from expectations. Although it’s been nearly three decades since Dallas last hoisted the Lombardi Trophy, he still sets his sights on the Super Bowl.

Over the weekend, Jones spoke with ESPN about expectations for the upcoming season. He believes Prescott will be a huge part of the team’s success if it wants to get back to the highest stage.
“Frankly, we’re disappointed we haven’t been knocking at the door of a Super Bowl with Dak before now,” Jones said. “So, certainly he’s very capable and is capable for years — as far as age as concerned — for competing for a Super Bowl. …
“The big thing is, I’m confident Dak and the team we’ve got together right now has a great chance to do it, no matter whether or not (Tom Brady) is in the NFC or if (Aaron Rodgers) isn’t in the NFC.”
If you thought the pressure was significant for Prescott and the Cowboys before, it might be at an all-time high in 2023.
