CeeDee Lamb reveals what was said in contentious exchange with Dak Prescott during SNF
Controversy struck on the Dallas Cowboys sideline between CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott for a second time this season on Sunday. NBC cameras caught the wide receiver saying something to his quarterback following a bad red zone interception. Lip reading was required and led to nobody truly knowing what Lamb said.
Color commentator Cris Collinsworth even told viewers at home to make their own assumptions. Well, people can stop assuming as Lamb revealed his exact message to Prescott when meeting with reporters on Thursday afternoon.
“Jump balls, Four. Jump balls and I got you,” Lamb said via Jon Machota of The Athletic.
Right before halftime against Pittsburgh, Prescott threw a back shoulder throw and was intercepted — taking points off the board. The Cowboys went into the locker room up just three points and no touchdowns. Not the performance anybody wanted, even after a weather delay.
Lamb was the intended target on the throw but was not on the same page with Prescott. “Jump balls, four” was just Lamb communicating his thoughts with his quarterback and apparently, nothing else.

Prescott was asked about the moment too, saying “It’s comical” how big of a deal people outside the organization have made about the moment. Based on their responses heading into the Detroit Lions game, there is no bad blood between Dallas’s newly paid superstars.
Dallas is hoping the past week has been used to get back on the right track as an important one is coming up. The Detroit Lions are next on the schedule, making a much-anticipated return to AT&T Stadium after what unfolded last year. Emotions are going to be high on both sidelines, more than a usual Week 6 game.
Thankfully, Lamb and Prescott had their best-ever day against the Lions in 2023, connecting 13 times for 227 yards and a touchdown. Anything similar to that performance and nobody will remember the sideline incident in Pittsburgh.
