Los Angeles Chargers outside linebacker Khalil Mack intends to play the 2025 season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Wednesday.

Mack, 33, previously said after the Chargers’ AFC Wild Card Round defeat to the Houston Texans he needed to take some time to mull over his future.

“Man, it’s a lot of different thoughts in my head right now,” Mack said, via ESPN’s Kris Rhim. “I can’t really speak on a definitive decision in terms of what I’m going to do because I don’t know if I’m going to play football moving forward, so there’s some things I got to talk through with my wife, spend some time with my kids and try not to make a rash decision after a loss.”

Still playing at a high level, Mack will be on the field next season — the question is where.

Khail Mack back in 2025 — will Chargers re-sign him?

Mack is out of a contract in Los Angeles and set to be an unrestricted free agent. The 11-year veteran is still one of the best pass rushers in the NFL, recording 6.0 sacks and 49 pressures this season. Mack, who earned a 90.4 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, was named to his ninth Pro Bowl. For his career, he’s a three-time All-Pro, a member of the Hall of Fame’s All-2010s team and won AP Defensive Player of the Year in 2016.

Whenever Mack retires, a Gold Jacket is surely in his future. But that won’t be next season. Mack is returning and if he does remain in Los Angeles, he believes he has a shot to win.

“As long as Justin Herbert is your quarterback. You got [safety] Derwin James and all these guys that love the game of football. And Jim Harbaugh coaching?” Mack said. “You know you always have a chance to win. Yeah, that’s a no-brainer.”
