Chargers take shot at Harrison Butker in schedule release video after recent controversial comments

As usual, the Los Angeles Chargers went all out for their schedule release video. This year’s theme focused on the Sims franchise.

From mentioning a Kansas City Chiefs super fan’s conviction to literally clowning the Las Vegas Raiders — the Chargers’ media team pulled no punches this year.

That wasn’t all that the Chargers had for their AFC West rivals, however. Of course, they had to get in on the Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce bandwagon — but their biggest hit didn’t come until the end credits were rolling.

Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker recently spoke at the commencement ceremony of a Catholic liberal arts school and, during his speech, said that the women graduating were “probably more excited about getting married and having children,” according to a report by the Associated Press.

The Chargers’ video showcases Butker in a kitchen making food and in the yard tending to the garden — two controversial stereotypes regarding gender equality. Check out the video for yourself around the 2:55 mark:

Butker would say that Catholic leaders were “pushing dangerous gender ideologies onto the youth of America.” He also gave his own opinion on the concept of Pride Month, and President Joe Biden’s stance on abortion.

According to Butker, his wife, Isabelle, has embraced “one of the most important titles of all. Homemaker.”

“I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you,” Butker said, via AP’s report. 

“Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world. I can tell you that my beautiful wife Isabelle would be the first to say that her life truly started when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother,” he said.

The comments received mixed reviews from those in attendance, but many online have expressed outrage at Butker’s comments since they were revealed.

Regardless of anyone’s opinion on the matter, the Los Angeles Chargers were able to shed some humor on a rather controversial situation. As always, they featured some if-you-know-then-you-know type of humor throughout the video.

As usual, the Chiefs and Chargers will meet twice during the regular season. The first matchup will come during Week 4 and the other during Week 14’s edition of Sunday Night Football.
