The Luka Doncic trade to the Los Angeles Lakers could have a ripple effect for LeBron James, if Charles Barkley had his way of course.

Barkley suggested that James should be traded to the Golden State Warriors to get teamed up with Steph Curry. ESPN’s Michael Wilbon championed this move practically all season as well.

While the James-Doncic pairing is fun right now, before they even take the court, Barkley wants to see James and Curry together. Get Up host Mike Greenberg posed the question as James’ Tampa Bay Buccaneers, ala Tom Brady.

“I would swing for the Warriors,” Barkley said Monday. “I would try. First of all, it would be must watch television, to see Steph and LeBron play together. I’m just thinking, just off the top of my head, I think the Warriors would be fascinated, because, listen, Steph and LeBron together. People have been talking about it for years. How about the Spurs? The Spurs got D’Aaron Fox, Wemby, LeBron, they got 100 draft picks.

“I’m telling you, if I’m the Warriors or the Spurs, because for D’Aaron to learn from LeBron and Wemby to learn from LeBron the next couple years, those are two places I can see would be fascinating.”

But James teaming up with Doncic in LA, as it is currently constructed, could be a fascinating watch towards the NBA postseason.

Doncic, 25 years old, is still in his prime and one of the most unstoppable forces in the league on the offensive side of the basketball. His career has been prolific to this point, and he has racked up an extensive number of accolades, while delivering clutch moment after clutch moment over the years for the Dallas franchise. He’s already been named a five-time All-Star, five-time first team All-NBA, and Rookie of the Year.

Anthony Davis, the main trade piece for the Lakers, is off to Dallas to team up with Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson, one of Curry’s former teammates in Golden State.

But man, James and Curry? In the twilight of their careers? It might be now or never.

“So you mean to tell me that Steph and LeBron and Draymond (Green) wouldn’t love attempting to play together under Steve Kerr,” Wilbon said. “I believe they would have to love that. And by the way, we’d be talking about a short term (thing). Remember, after next week, there’s only going to be 30 games left in the NBA season.

“So you’re talking about 30 games and the playoffs. So in a seven game series, you draw a team with LeBron and Stephan Draymond Green, motivated and and presumably healthy?”
