There’s plenty of interest in Titans QB Will Levis as he prepares for his rookie season in Music City. Even so, there are no guarantees for him on Tennessee’s depth chart based on what the franchises’s quarterbacks coach, Charles London, had to say at OTAs.

London spoke on Levis as Tennessee wrapped up their OTAs this week in Nashville. When it comes to the QB2 spot behind Ryan Tannehill, London said it’s ‘way too early’ to determine anything between Levis and second-year quarterback Malik Willis. At this point, the team is just looking forward to how both will continue that specific competition come training camp in the fall.

“I think it’s way too early to assess that,” London said. “Really, I think they’ve both built a great foundation and I look forward to those guys continuing to work over the next four or five weeks. And then coming back in when training camp starts.”

“That stuff will sort itself out,” said London.

Levis comes to Tennessee after spending his collegiate career with Penn State and Kentucky. In his two years of starting experience with the Wildcats, he threw for over 5,200 passing yards on a 65.7% completion rate. His production led to 17 wins for UK as he put 54 touchdowns overall on the board while in Lexington.

Still, Levis’ evaluation as a prospect was divisive. Some saw a player worthy of a high-selection in the first round while others thought he was overhyped in the draft process. In the end, those in the latter camp seemed to win out as he fell to the No. 33 pick in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

While the jury is still out on Levis as an NFL quarterback, he’s doing his best to make things happen with his next opportunity with the Titans. The only thing left to determine is whether he’ll be continuing his learning process behind Tannehill alone in the fall or if he’ll be marked down as the franchise’s QB3 behind Willis as well.

London ‘pleased’ with where Will Levis stands

The Tennessee Titans were able to draft quarterback Will Levis in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. With most experts expecting Levis to go in the first round, there is a chance he will become a steal.

However, Levis is a raw talent that needs to be developed if he’s going to succeed. For now, it seems like he’s doing the things he needs to do to get to that point.

“I think he’s done a good job,” Titans quarterback coach Charles London said. “He has come in and we’ve thrown a lot at him. And he has come in and done a good job with the information. Trying to learn the offense, grow each day. And improve on our mistakes from each day. So we’re pleased with where he’s at right now.”

This comment comes after Will Levis received criticism after struggling in his very first practice with the Titans. It would be easy to react poorly to this but Levis chose to move forward as quickly as possible.

“I know I have more opportunities tomorrow and the next day. So I’m not going to beat myself up,” Will Levis said. “High standards is the name of the game. It’s not to beat yourself up. It’s to motivate you to go out there and perform to the best of your ability.”
