Evidently, the clutch gene didn’t skip over Tiger Woods’ son, Charlie. On Sunday, the 15-year-old prodigy made his first career hole-in-one in the PNC Championship.

Charlie and Tiger are competing together in the event. Team Woods finished runner-up at the PNC in 2021, losing by two strokes John Daly and John Daly II. This marks the Woods duo’s fifth appearance at the long-running Orlando event.

It was the fourth hole of the day for Team Woods. Sitting 183 yards out, the hole is a par 3. Alas, Charlie didn’t need the extra attempts. Charlie used a 7-iron on the hole and hit the ball about six feet left of the pin before it rolled into the hole.

After a moment of disbelief, Charlie embraced his father, who had a smile from ear to ear. The ace moved Team Woods back in front at the PNC Championship, giving them the solo lead at 17-under total, one stroke clear of the field.

It was undoubtedly a special moment for Tiger, who only competed in five tournaments this year and finished just one. The PNC Championship is Tiger’s first time competing since receiving his sixth back surgery in September.

He said he received the surgery as quickly as possible to have a better chance to compete with his son in this event. After Charlie’s ace on Sunday, it’s safe to assume that Tiger is happy with his decision.

Earlier this month, Tiger revealed his message to Charlie who continues to garner attention for his unbelievable talent.

“I was always reminding him, ‘Just be you.’ Charlie is Charlie,” Woods said, per The Washington Post. “Yes, he’s my son. He’s going to have my last name, and it’s going to be part of his core. But I just want him to be just himself and be his own person. That’s what we can only do.

“I always encourage it, for him to carve his own name, carve his own path and have his own journey,” he added. “I think he’s doing a great job. In this day and age where everyone is basically media, with all the phones, being constantly filmed and constantly people watching, that’s just part of his generation, and that’s part of the world that he has to maneuver through.”
