Chase Briscoe explains emotions of winning appeal of Daytona penalty

This week, Chase Briscoe was given his 100 points back from a penalty he received at Daytona for a modified single source part. Following an appeal, Joe Gibbs Racing was able to convince the appeals panel that it was a NASCAR manufacturing issue, not a team issue.
The argument from JGR was solid. A three-member panel ruled in favor of the team and Chase Briscoe. That took Briscoe from last in points to right where he wants to be, in the mix for the top-10.
Speaking to the media today at Phoenix, Briscoe opened up about his emotions following the decision. It isn’t every day that you receive 100 points in this sport.
“Yeah it’s crazy. The amount of relief I felt, honestly just, I felt like a new man the rest of the week,” Briscoe said, via Dustin Long of NBC Sports. “So yeah it’s been nice. Not that our season was over but it kind of felt that way to a certain extent. I mean, we could have still won a race, right, and made the playoffs but you’re going to be at such a deficit the whole season. So, yeah, I definitely felt like I got a new life in a sense just because it stings when it’s the first race, right, and you’re kind of buried the whole season. But now I feel like I’m back on a level playing field.”
Being back on a level playing field is a big deal. That 100-point penalty was major. Chase Briscoe was in a hole that would have only been a distraction this season. Now those points are back, there are no excuses, and the 19 team can focus on winning races.

Chase Briscoe has lackluster qualifying effort
I think that the No. 19 team has shown speed and confidence at every race this season. However, that is going to be difficult to continue as Chase Briscoe qualified P30. That will be a long, hard day in the Phoenix sun.
This new pairing at Joe Gibbs is interesting. Briscoe has shown so much promise and talent in the past. Whether it is winning a ton of Xfinity Series races or pulling off a walk-off win in the Southern 500 to make the playoffs. The garage is impressed with Briscoe and his talents.
The JGR organization stood by their driver. That is what you want to see from a Cup Series team. Chase Briscoe is in a great place right now with the 19 team and the wins are going to come.
