A very classy move from Chase Briscoe and Joe Gibbs Racing. The No. 19 Toyota Camry will carry the name of the late Martin Truex Sr. While Martin Truex Jr. is no longer behind the wheel, his old NASCAR team is honoring his family in a special way for the Daytona 500.

Martin Truex Jr. is racing in the Daytona 500. He is in the No. 56 car for Tricon Garage. The Truex family announced the death of Martin and Ryan’s father, Martin Sr., on January 17th.

In the Cup Series garage area, Dustin Long of NBC Sports captured a picture of Chase Briscoe’s car. It features a number of names that Bass Pro Shops is racing in memory of. Among them, Martin Truex Sr.

Bass Pro Shops is sponsoring Truex and Briscoe this weekend. That entire group is a big part of the NASCAR family. It is not surprising, but still very sweet, to see this gesture from them and the Joe Gibbs Racing organization.

Obviously, Martin Truex Jr. has done so much for Bass Pro and vice versa. They were inseparable for so many years. That relationship has clearly not faltered even in Truex’s retirement.

Chase Briscoe will start on the pole with Martin Truex Sr.’s name on his car. That will be a great view for Briscoe in his first race with Joe Gibbs. It is also the first Daytona 500 pole award for Toyota ever. A lot of cool things going on with this new-look No. 19 team.

Chase Briscoe on pole for Daytona 500

Despite minor damage in his Duel race, Chase Briscoe and his team are not going to relinquish the pole position. A piece of debris smashed in the grille on the front of Briscoe’s car on Thursday night.

For Briscoe, the hard work was over and done with on Wednesday night. His Toyota Camry was excellent and proved to be the fastest car on the track in single-lap qualifying by far. This exciting week at Daytona is about to culminate in the Great American Race tomorrow afternoon.

While Briscoe has the pole award, the real task at hand is only beginning. Daytona guarantees nothing to nobody. Even if you have the fastest car, doesn’t mean you will end up crossing the finish line on the lead lap, or at all.

So far this week, so good for Chase Briscoe. A lot can happen over the course of 500 miles. Is this going to be a storybook debut for Briscoe at Joe Gibbs Racing?
