Chase Briscoe reacts to Christopher Bell spoiling Joe Gibbs Racing announcement
The worst-kept secret in NASCAR was officially spoiled yesterday when Christopher Bell let it slip that Chase Briscoe would be joining JGR. Briscoe is in line to replace Martin Truex Jr., and his future teammate ruined the whole surprise.
Of course, it isn’t much of a surprise. Chase Briscoe has been named for this ride from the start. When it came out Truex was stepping out at the end of this season, the answer was the current driver of the 14 car.
At New Hampshire, Bell spoiled things. But Briscoe didn’t seem to mind.
“It changed a lot of things, I think in the Silly Season,” Briscoe said, jokingly, via Alan Cavanna. “I need to call Rick now that the 9 [Chase Elliott’s car] has opened up and changed a lot of things that was a domino nobody saw coming, so. Yeah I just kind of laughed at it I thought it was pretty good. Typical Christopher, so yeah, it was pretty funny.”
When asked if he was upset that his announcement got leaked early, Chase Briscoe wasn’t taking it there. Bell made a mistake, and a funny one at that.
“I mean, I felt like everybody kinda knows what’s going on, right? So, I don’t know. I think the official announcement whenever that is, hopefully, we can have something official soon. I wasn’t mad at him, it was kinda funny, I thought.”
Chase Briscoe to Joe Gibbs Racing will likely be announced in the next week or so. That will be one more piece in the Silly Season puzzle that makes things a little more clear. We can almost see the full picture for how 2025 will look.

Chase Briscoe to JGR is going to be awesome
Drivers don’t always get their “big break.” While Chase Briscoe has spent some great years at Stewart-Haas Racing in the Xfinity and Cup Series, he never really got to enjoy the heyday of their power.
Unfortunately for Briscoe, a talented sprint car driver prior to NASCAR, he came in on the downhill side of SHR’s history. Still, he got to drive for his idol, star in commercials with him, and learn from Tony Stewart for years. That’s major for any driver.
With Joe Gibbs Racing, Briscoe is going to get behind the wheel of a car that has no excuse not to be in the top-15 at worst. He will be expected to win a race or two at least each season. Not to mention the postseason expectations at an organization like that.
Chase Briscoe will have to perform in 2025. He has a win in the Cup Series to his name. The next year or two will be crucial for how Briscoe is viewed as a driver. Many believe he has the talent to be great, now he’s getting the chance to be in a great car.
