With Martin Truex Jr. hanging it up after this season, the rumors are already out there that Chase Briscoe could be his replacement in 2025. Stewart-Haas Racing is closing its doors at the end of the NASCAR season and that means Briscoe needs a new job.

Chase Briscoe is well-respected in the NASCAR garage. Many believe that his talent has yet to reach its full potential. At SHR he has a victory at Phoenix in the Cup Series and made the Round of 8 in 2022. So there is something there.

So, what is the deal? Will Briscoe end up at Joe Gibbs Racing in the No. 19? The driver talked about being “close” to a deal for next season. However, he did not specify the team or teams that he is negotiating with.

“I feel like I’m pretty close [to a 2025 deal],” Briscoe said, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “I feel pretty good about it. There’s a lot of different [factors in the decision]. Performance is one thing that definitely [in] weighing the options is something that is important, the future and what the future looks like.

“And then obviously, the other part is, what’s going to be the best to provide for my family. With twins on the way, I’m going to have three kids. That is a real thought now, just what’s going to set us up for the future in the best way.”

Now, there are a few places that Chase Briscoe can end up at. If Joe Gibbs is calling, then he should probably take his talents there. Then again, there will be seats open at Front Row Motorsports too. Of course, depending on other driver decisions, other teams could have open seats available as well.

I do think that Briscoe has earned an upgrade in equipment. During his career, Briscoe has turned heads with his talent. The fact he won at Stewart-Haas Racing in the last few years is a big positive. In 2023, the cars were so bad not even Kevin Harvick could get a win.

Joe Gibbs Racing would be a very interesting destination for Briscoe. It is an organization where he can’t hide behind equipment issues or anything like that. So, if he is the racer many believe that he is, he should thrive in that environment.

Then again, there is always a chance of failure. Drivers gamble on themselves all the time. In 2025, Chase Briscoe could go all-in and suit up for JGR. How many wins do you think he gets in the 19, if he gets the 19?
