Chase Brown fined for jumping into Salvation Army kettle during TD celebration in Dallas
The NFL is fining Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown for his celebrations on Monday in Dallas in which he jumped into the Salvation Army kettle near the end zone.
Brown was celebrating assuming he had scored on the play, which was ruled just short of the goal line initially before being ruled a score upon review.
The fines, reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, total $5,481 and are for unsportsmanlike conduct, officially for “illegal celebrations and vulgar acts.” After jumping into the kettle, Brown was seen looking perplexed at his teammates for not coming to celebrate with him, or the refs for not ruling the play a touchdown.
The Bengals went on to beat the Cowboys, 27-20.
This was also of course not the first time a running back has used the Salvation Army kettle at the back of an endzone in AT&T Stadium for a celebration, as Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott famously was fined by the league himself for a similar celebration in 2017.

In addition to missing Sunday’s game against the Panthers, Trevon Diggs is now expected to miss the rest of the year, FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reported. He will undergo surgery as he works through a knee injury.

Diggs’ procedure is scheduled for Sunday, according to Glazer, and it will keep him out the remainder of the year. He missed two games with the knee injury, but returned for Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 14.
Against Cincinnati, he had five tackles and three passes defended as the Cowboys fell in the final minutes, thanks in large part to a special teams blunder. Now, they’ll have to go through the rest of the year without one of their top DBs.
Diggs was limited in Wednesday and Thursday’s practice ahead of Week 15. However, he did not practice Friday and was questionable on the injury report heading into the weekend. That perhaps indicated he’d be able to go against the Panthers. However, that is no longer the case.
