Chase Elliott, Daniel Suárez exchange words following Chicago Street Race
Late in the Chicago Street Race, there was an issue between Chase Elliott and Daniel Suárez. The two had to talk it out after the race. It isn’t often you see these two NASCAR drivers at odds with one another.
Chase Elliott was racing inside the top-15. Daniel Suárez was racing against him for position. The 99 ended up sending Elliott around. The 9 car finished P21, Suárez was P11.
Not that it’s a huge deal, but this ends Elliott’s top-20 streak. He had not finished worse than P19 in a race until today in Chicago.
Here are the two Coca-Cola Racing drivers talking it out on pit road. It appears that whatever disagreement they had is settled. Or Chase Elliott just didn’t want to talk anymore.

While this was a disappointing result for Chase Elliott, it was just what Daniel Suárez needed. He would have liked to have finished in the top-10, but after a couple of weeks outside of the top-20, this was a welcomed result.
For Elliott, he has to move on. He’s good at doing that. Elliott remains calm and collected even through adversity, for the most part. Whatever Suárez told him was either a good excuse or not worth arguing about. No harm in either one.

Alex Bowman joins Chase Elliott, other HMS teammates as 2024 winner
For the first time this season, Alex Bowman is a winner in the NASCAR Cup Series. Bowman broke an 80-race winless streak. He has had a concussion injury and a broken back since his last victory at Las Vegas in the third week of the 2022 season.
This race was not ideal. It felt like a repeat of last year’s rainy event. Although the rain didn’t flood the track, it did enough to delay it for almost two hours at one point.
Alex Bowman is the 12th individual winner in the Cup Series this season. He locks himself into the NASCAR Playoffs with the win. He stayed out on wet weather tires and it ended up paying off for him.
This race had plenty of issues and we can get into that later. But through it all, Bowman prevailed. He is now locked into the playoffs and all four Hendrick Motorsports drivers have won at least one race this season.
