Ahead of the Daytona 500, Chase Elliott is set to race in the ASA STARS National Tour race at New Smyrna Speedway for the Clyde Hart Memorial. Driving with Fr8 Racing, the NASCAR star is making his return to Super Late Model racing.

On Tuesday, February 13th, the day before Daytona qualifying, the ASA STARS National Tour will take the track at New Smyrna. Known as the “Superspeedway of Short Track Racing” the venue has hosted many great Late Model races.

The Clyde Hart Memorial has been won by Chase Elliott’s teammate at Hendrick Motorsports, William Byron, for the last two years. There will likely be other NASCAR talent in the race, as there often is.

Fr8 Racing will be on the car for Elliott.

Chase Elliott has raced in ASA STARS before. He was in two races in the series last year. One of those was the Super Late Model race at North Wilkesboro, where he finished P3. He also raced at Hickory Motor Speedway with a P6 finish.

The week of the Daytona 500 is full of racing and fun. The Clyde Hart Memorial has started to become part of that tradition for many NASCAR drivers and race fans.

Chase Elliott hoping to return to form in 2024

Plain and simple, the 2023 season was a lost one for Chase Elliott. When he looks back on his career, he will likely dismiss it as a one-off. Or, it could be the start of a bad trend. In 2024, Elliott is hoping to return to form and show that he is still capable of winning a Cup Series championship.

Breaking your leg and missing eight races in a season is not the best way to win a title. It isn’t the best way to win races. Unless you’re Kyle Busch, I guess. No one is going to blame Elliott for 2023.

If he is not able to keep pace with his Hendrick teammates, then we could see trouble. Kyle Larson and William Byron were arguably the two best drivers last season in the Cup Series.

If Larson and Byron are both winning 5+ races a season, is there room for Elliott to win races as well? Hendrick Motorsports has a plethora of talent, but is it perhaps too much talent for the team to handle?

Chase Elliott has a lot to prove in 2024. Yes, he’s a champion, but if we don’t see a strong performance this year, people are going to start to talk.
