Chase Elliott has hilarious reaction to Christopher Bell’s press conference slip-up
There is a running joke in the NASCAR garage right now involving Chase Elliott, Chase Briscoe, and Joe Gibbs Racing. It is all thanks to Christopher Bell.
Chase Elliott is not going anywhere, of course. Chase Briscoe is the driver who will be on the move in 2025. Briscoe is going to move from Stewart-Haas Racing to Joe Gibbs Racing to take over the empty seat being left by Martin Truex Jr.
On Friday, Christopher Bell let it slip that “Chase” will join JGR next season. He caught himself before saying a last name, which allowed for people like Kyle Larson to make jokes online.
“Yeah I heard about that. It was funny, the boss actually sent me a message … it was all kinds of stuff,” Elliott said, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “He sent me this screenshot that I was leaving and going somewhere else and was going to own a team. Been all kinds of stuff, evidently, going on that I didn’t know I was doing this week.
“I guess I’m headed now to go drive for JGR now, too. I don’t think so. If I am I didn’t know about it. But I felt bad for Bell, such an honest mistake you could tell. It was such a genuine, he just slipped up. So, excited for Briscoe though. I think that will be a really good opportunity for him. Hate that Bell was the one to break the news, I’m sure he got in trouble for that. It’s all good, it was going to come out eventually.”
Chase Elliott won’t be going anywhere. This has all been a really funny couple of days, though. Kyle Larson, Elliott, and others have gotten in on making jokes of the situation. All in good fun.

Chase Elliott starting out front at New Hampshire
If you are a fan of the No. 9 car, then good news! Qualifying was rained out at New Hampshire and that means Chase Elliott will be on the pole position. As the points leader and based on recent performances, Elliott was at the top of the metric.
New Hampshire is not a track where Elliott has been dominant. He has solid finishes, but not many. This will be his best starting position ever. He had a previous best start and finish of P2 at the Magic Mile.
Could this be the weekend where Elliott performs at New Hampshire? With him starting in the front, I really like his chances. Passing won’t be easy. There might be some wet weather tire racing on the track, which is a huge curveball.
If the race goes as planned, Chase Elliott will have a chance to win his first race ever at New Hampshire. Do you think the No. 9 team can get it done on Sunday or potentially Monday if the weather doesn’t cooperate?
