Chase Elliott learned 'lots of lessons' during disappointing 2023 NASCAR season
No matter how you cut it, this season did not go according to plan for Chase Elliott. He never found his rhythm on the track. Elliott, the 2020 NASCAR champion, is definitely looking forward to a reset in 2024 and a new season.
For Chase Elliott, 2024 is about returning to his usual self. Free from injury, free from frustration. Elliott needs to get back to his usual ways. He’s the figurehead of the sport, he’s important to the popularity of NASCAR and more.
Looking back on his season, Elliott was honest with how he thought he had performed.
“Been some times of being decent, but you know, for the most part, been certainly not what I expect of myself and what we expect of our team,” Elliott said, via NASCAR.com. “So yeah, a lot of room for improvement, and we intend to do a lot of that going into next year. … It all needs to be better.”
Prior to this season, Chase Elliott had multiple wins in each year since 2017. Now he is starting over, a new streak in the making.
“You’re always wanting to be better,” Elliott said. “I think we’ve learned a lot about ourselves and the things that I need to do better. For me, I’ve learned a lot about myself and just areas that I want to improve in and trying to tackle a lot of that this weekend, you know, and get a good head start on things we want to improve upon for next year.
“Lots of lessons and a lot about the car and what I want to feel and what I think I need to feel in the vehicle each week.”

2024 could be a big year for Chase Elliott.
What to expect of Chase Elliott in 2024
Despite his rough season in 2023, I think Elliott is going to be just fine. It was a strange set of circumstances. The race at Watkins Glen looked like it was his to lose and it was! He just ran out of fuel earlier than expected.
There were mishaps and missed opportunities in 2023. I think with an offseason to collect his thoughts and prepare himself again, Chase Elliott is going to be doing just fine. Let’s not forget how good he was in 2022.
The first year of the Next Gen car was very good to Elliott. He won five races, leading the Cup Series, and made the Championship 4. Ultimately, he came up short at Phoenix in 2022. I fully expect Elliott to get back to his winning ways.
Then again, is there enough wins to go around? Between Kyle Larson, William Byron, and Chase Elliott – there are more than a few races these teammates will be battling it out. All three of them are capable of winning three or more races every season.
How do you expect Chase Elliott’s 2024 season to go?
