Today, Chase Elliott is trying to get his job in practice and qualifying over with so he can get ready for Georgia-Alabama tonight. The son of Awesome Bill from Dawsonville definitely has a bias, but the NASCAR driver has made his official pick today.

Everyone knows that Chase Elliott is a Georgia boy. It’s hard for him to pick against his bulldogs.

So, he didn’t. When asked by Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports, Elliott had to stick to his guns. Despite Georgia struggling against my Kentucky Wildcats last week, the NASCAR star has confidence in his team.

“The Dawg fan in me is definitely picking the Dawgs, so we’ll see,” Chase Elliott said with a smile.

When Chase Elliott won the Cup Series championship in November 2021, Georgia went on to win the College Football Playoffs that following January. So, Bulldogs fans should be hoping to see Elliott advance in the playoffs.

Chase Elliott has issues in practice

On the track, Chase Elliott is out in Kansas. Today during practice, the No. 9 had a moment where power seemed to go away and the car was not driving as well as it should have. Turns out, Elliott was down a cylinder in his engine.

Elliott will attempt to qualify with seven of eight cylinders. They might be able to outrun a couple of cars or hope for issues for others. But the pit selection and starting spot will not be

Elliott has made his way into a strong points position through consistent finishes. He doesn’t get too low. Doesn’t allow many mistakes. This year, he has only one win but also only has one finish outside of the top-20.

Could this season, when Chase Elliott has been so quiet, be the year he wins his second championship? Could we see Elliott and the Georgia Bulldogs both pick up wins this weekend?
