After three years at the LA Coliseum and this season at Bowman Gray, Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney can see the NASCAR Clash going overseas. In fact, Elliott thinks if the Clash isn’t going to new places to grow the sport, they shouldn’t even do it.

The NASCAR season is underway once again. Things are starting at Bowman Gray with the Cook Out Clash. But what about the future of this race? Does it stay at the Madhouse for three years? Does Daytona get the date back?

For Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney, it doesn’t matter where it is. They are going to show up and race. But if it isn’t helping NASCAR grow, is it worth doing?

“Yeah, I mean I said it earlier, this is the perfect race you have a chance to move it around,” Blaney said to the media at Bowman Gray. “Go to different parts of the country, maybe even outside of the USA, to give a different part of the, an area and a fanbase something to watch. NASCAR and Cup cars in general. … I don’t really have any preference or reservations about going anywhere.”

This season, the Cup Series will go international. A road course race at Mexico City is on the schedule for Cup and Xfinity.

Chase Elliott agrees, Clash should go overseas

Chase Elliott was in agreement with Ryan Blaney. He believes the NASCAR Clash can go somewhere outside of the United States. Where exactly? Well, he’ll leave that up to NASCAR.

“I kind of like Ryan’s thought of potentially getting outside of the United States,” Chase Elliott explained. “I know we’re kind of testing the waters a little bit with the Mexico City thing this year, but I think the real test would be going overseas. And this race would be a good opportunity to do something like that that wouldn’t be, you know, committing to a points race somewhere like, a long ways away.

“So, I like the idea of using it as a potential stepping stone to help grow the sport. And I almost feel like if we’re not going to do that I’m not even sure that it’s totally necessary, either. I think it’s a good opportunity to shake things down and kind of get in the groove but we just ran a month and a half ago, it wasn’t that long ago, either. So, I think for me, I’m not saying one way or the other I think everything’s on the table and I’d be good either way. Whether it’s here, Daytona, if they want to do it in Europe, if they want to not do it at all, I’d be fine with any of the above.”

The two drivers are in agreement. But will NASCAR take the Clash outside of America?
